He was being maybe a bit too specific. He doesn't say something bad did not happen to al-douri, just that he definitely was not captured during today's mission. Just sounds pretty specific.

"He was definitely not captured in today's mission,"

Dang it, I wonder where these stories come from in the first place?

This story came from a member of the Iraqi National Congress per Fox News this morning. And I was thinking, why don't these b*ttholes keep their traps shut until the U.S. has had a chance to interrogate anyone. Selfishly, this quote gives me hope:

"He was definitely not captured in today's mission," Major Doug Vincent of the 173rd Airborne Brigade told reporters who accompanied troops on the raid in Hawija, near Kirkuk.

I choose to read it: He was definitely not captured in today's mission...last week's mission...yes but today's mission...no

Well, that would certainly explain the report from an Iraqi that he's been captured but the denial from U.S. forces that they've got him. [fingers crossed]

Thanks for the updates. Why do I get the feeling that about the time Americans will get to what passes for Izzy, that DNA tests will be required to identify him (think death, missing body parts)?

I just posted an interesting article from the Scotsman on this raid. It seems his bodyguards families were seen weeping after the raid.

Izzat Ibrahim might be captured but might be getting some 'friendly' interogation right now. In order to capture Saddam and get intelligence, it might be in the U.S. best interest to not say they have him. Hopefully this is the case.

I think there's more to this story than we've been told.

He could be dead, as you mentioned, or the Kurds could have him and we don't want it in the news yet until we get all the info from him we can get.

They can do things to him that we are not allowed to do!
