The Good:

This site is very popular (for some reason) and is one of the most visited on the internet. It may be the most popular forum site, which is why I post here even though the viepoints expressed here are decidedly different from mine.

The Bad:

This site really sucks. I mean it used to be interesting, but now it's nothing more than a father version of Lucianne.com where all that's allowed are the latest kneepad tributes to President Bush.

The Ugly:

I would like to say this site is racist, homophobic, sexist, blah, blah, blah. But since those are no longer the talking points of the RNC(to hold on that 5% of minority votes, I assume), it wouldn't be correct to say that. What is truly ugly is that Visa logo on the front page with "support freerepublic" inside it. If that is not trademark infringement, it surely is gross shamelessness and bad taste. I mean, come on guys.

Have you actually read any of the threads here? There are plenty of people with pet bones to pick with the President on any number of issued ranging from Iraq to trade to the economy to the Assault Weapons Ban to the Patriot Act to illegal immigration to the War on Drugs... the list just goes on and on.

First, that you've never owned a business!
Second, that you've never made a payroll - and are unqualified to make judgements about tax rates, profits, legislation that governs business, etc.
Third, that you don't understand money, beyond advocating taking other people's money to give away to freeloaders salve your conscience
Finally, that you don't understand how Visa gets paid, or that they provide the logos for merchants to use!

Actually, this site is pretty good. It is usually very fast, has great uptime and is fairly stable, especially for a system running Linux ;-). You'll see plenty of Bush bashing here, especially from staunch conservatives like myself.

Ah get real. FR posters continuously supported an American (legalized Honduran immigrant who spoke no English at 17 when he immigrated yet went to Harvard and graduated at 24) named Miguel Estrada for a federal court position. FR posters also continue to support Bush nominee Janice Rogers Brown, who happens to be black. Liberal Democrats in the US Senate continue to filibuster and even caused Estrada to back out. There are many black American conservatives who post to FR frequently as well. If FR was racist (the actual correct term in light of your use in context should be 'bigoted') would they post here?

Homophobic? I doubt it. Some people don't have to like people who live a lifestyle that they don't agree with. I don't like people who have liberal beliefs. Does that make me liberalphobic? No...it just means that I don't like liars and thieves.

There are some major differences between liberals and conservatives. Liberals like to spend everyone else's money (theft) whereas conservatives like people to spend their own money (self ownership). Liberals classify everyone by a certain grouping, such as this ethnic group, or that sexual orientation, etc. Conservatives prefer to get to know someone and recognize them as an individual and for their personal acheivements, not what they look like or who they sleep with.
