Another great book to give for Christmas.

This has received darned little attention.

Without a willing press, the lies told about our Vietnam vets would never have become part of the myths associated with that war.

The left has lied to us once again, and about people who deserved better!

For your media bias bump list.

I can't think of a bigger lie told by the media than those exposed in this book.

I'm acquainted with a fellow who gets tremendous mileage from his service as "a Navy SEAL" during VN, says he received the Navy Cross in a well-known battle there, did service in Cambodia, etc.

He doesn't speak one word of Cambodian or Vietnamese. He doesn't appear in any list of Navy Cross recipients, and is in no documented listing of the famous battle for which he says he received the Cross. He doesn't know the geography of Vietnam or Cambodia, even near places where he claims he served.

I could go on, but why bother?

Thank you, Stultis.

The military branch awarded Mr. Burkett its Distinguished Civilian Service Award on Monday for his work in exposing more than 1,200 people who either lied about or exaggerated their claims of serving in the Vietnam War. He later wrote a critically acclaimed book about his findings.

Former President George H.W. Bush presented the award to Mr. Burkett during a brief ceremony at the Bush Library in College Station.

The honor, which is awarded by the secretary of the Army, cites Mr. Burkett's "unique and important contribution in properly honoring our veterans of the Vietnam War."

* Part II - Welcome Home, Babykiller
* Part III - Will the Real Vietnam Vet Stand Up?
* Part VI - The VVA - The Vietnam Victims of America

Do you, by any chance, keep a list of all the "fake SEAL", "fake sniper", "fake MOH", etc. websites?

Good!

Before Muhammed/Malvo were captured and during the Beltway Sniper shootings, a retired editor of a Los Angeles newspaper commented in a public venue that he thought the sniper was a Vietnam vet. I let him have it with both barrels, said he was a big part of the problem, referred him to Stolen Valor if he wanted to know why, and said he owed every Vietnam vet an apology for the abuse he'd perpetrated on them during the years.

He was shocked, but he followed up. We're pretty good friends now, and he's reconsidered several of his opinions adopted during his newspaper days.

Burkett is one of the Good Buddies!

I’m glad Mr. Burkett received the recognition and award for his work.
While receiving help from a VA group in the early ‘80s we had one man who insisted he was a Navy SEAL and his job was to assassinate American Generals! This guy had so much bull it was unbelievable – and of course all the records pertaining to his service were “lost”. The VA had to pay him 100% disability when ever he turned himself in for treatment. It was up to us to dissuade him from continuing “treatment”.

I know a man who was given years of hassle about his claims of servive in Cambodia and how his disability was as a result of acion there. The records had let him down, then Donald Blum found photos of him taken by press and used in Vietnam related books when he was being medically evacuated.

He just got his back payments and is getting money monthly he is owed. Liars and posers cost good vets and cheapen their sacrifices. I loudly expose liars I meet. It's the least I can do for fellow veterans.

A bump for those who really fought for my freedom.

Another group of BS artists are these gov't employee types who are in or were once in some kind of 'sensitive' position. They like to play like they were/are 'James Bond' and the trouble is, you can't call them on their BS because it's all unverifiable by those without clearances. Kinda' like that jerkoff waiter on 'True Lies'.
