Does anyone think people would have paid quite as much attention to her otherwise?

I do. Thanksgiving weekend is an otherwise slow news weekend, barring natural disaster, or terrible travel accident, the news media is always looking for filler. Hildebeast wanted to fill that vacuum with her fearsome countenance. I'm just sorry that her anti-troops comments were not more widely disseminated, but there's plenty of time till her re-election effort in 2006 to gussy them up in the appropriate attack ads.

When I saw the coverage of the triumphant Bush visit, I thought back to Susan Estrich's comments about the Clintons' sucking the oxygen out of the room, by stealing news time away from Democrats who were openly running for President. Nice thing is, Hill was close enough to GWB to hear the "giant sucking sound" that he could generate!

Look, when the poster people for the Democratic Party nowadays are Al Franken, Michael Moore, George Soros and Barbara Streisand, is it small wonder why Mr. Podhoretz thinks Bush's critics have finally lost it emotionally?
