..the troops know the difference.

When I was in the Infantry, 'lo 20 years ago, the Officers knew that the quickest way to garner the detestation of the soldiers was to eat before the last man was served. An exception could be granted to the Officers who elected to serve the troops their meals for a while.

Here we see the perfect contrast; the Commander in Chief serves the troops and then sits down for chow, resulting in respect. The bearer of Old Crusty shoves into line, forcing the common troop to delay a holiday meal, resulting in contempt.

The elitist Dems just don't get it.

"The elitist Dems just don't get it."

I disagree. They get it but they just don't care.

Elitist Dems have no use for social norms of regular folk or soldiers. Why should this situation be any different?
What really galls one though is that if this had been a visit to a mosque or even dinner at a Japanese restaurant, you better believe Hillary would have fallen all over herself to take the time to learn the norms and customs extensively so as not to offend her hosts.

Sorry to disagree with you my dear Brother: but in fact, they do get it!
Probem is, they just don't care.
After all, the way they see it, they don't have to prove anything.
It's the "Politics of Meaning" that counts.
And it hasn't got a thing to do with matching action to their carefully crafted words!
