>>this is going to be like that parody Rush did of tommy daschele doing his own radio show somewhere in the dakotas
Even liberal Harry Shearer ("Mr Burns", "Smithers", and
"Principal Skinner" on "The Simpsons") did a half-decent
spoof of what liberal talk radio would sound like. On Shearer's "Le Show" (airing on several NPR stations),
he did "The Al Gore Show", with Al Franken as Gore's
sidekick...and it sounded pathetic. When the REAL
Al Franken show debuts on Lib Radio, it'll be even
worse.

I think many of us have the mistaken assumption that the persons behind this endeavor are in it for profit....like any reasonable businessperson would. It will be a conduit for money for those "on the air", surely but success for the backers will be simply getting the stations up and running with their programming. There are enough persons with disposable income who share the ideology for the project (Soros, along with the Chicago couple who provided the seed money) to be kept afloat until such a time as it has outlived its usefulness.
The stations will also have little trouble drawing from a pool of recognisable Liberal persons to keep some level of interest. The Ed Asners of the world will flock to this new "outlet". When Arbitron numbers show that more conservative-leaning programming beats this Liberal networks in terms of sheer numbers, Arbitron and its audience estimation methodology will be shouted down and claimed to be irrelevant/erroneous/faulty/misleading, etc.
It will be a money-losing proposition all in all. It will be a way for some to dispose of "questionable" cash and some backers won't see it effect their bottom line at all.

Is Harry Shearer back to normal? I used to listen to him on shortwave. He went off the deep end just before the
commencement of Iraq hostilities. He got to be so bad, I gave up even checking to see if the show was listenable.
Harry is a schizoid liberal, opening with "...Home of the Homeless".
