According to one Democratic leadership aide, some protesters were being paid by the unions they belonged to to make up for lost wages because they took time off from work to help out their Democratic friends.

Is that legal?

When it's the Dems and the unions, I think "legal" is merely a nuance... kinda like how it's illegal for tax-exempt churches to hold political rallies, but every election season Dem politicans can be found sermonizing and bleating out gospel hits at the Inner City Baptist Choir.
