If they think Bush is pursuing a right-wing extremist agenda, that just shows how far left these people really are. I'm noticing a tremendous amount of usage of the term "right-wing" by all kinds of Democrats to describe all conservatives. It's like a code word they use for their enemy that they hate...they call us "right-wing."

It is possible for left- and right-wingers to honestly self-identify.

But you are right, this is not about honesty. This is about anachronism. In the 60's anyone in favor of a strong military could reliably be marginalized as a right-wing kook. During the Reagan years and after, Christian conservatives could reliably be marginalized. They were the ones who didn't want you to have any fun.

They think that the old marginalizers will work but they won't anymore. The angry left-wingers are the ones who are ridiculous.
