Fox showed tapes of the Fedayeen sawing off someone's tongue and using other methods of torture.

They were Saddam's (or Uday's) thugs and enforcers. I do believe Greg Kelly said they were feared and were relentless, true believers, but not especially good tactical fighters.

"I believe they would have used a "Ripper" (30 caliber chain-gun that spews over 10,000 rounds per minute) or a 20 mm that puts up over 7,000."

Sure you are right, psycho-freep, just so long as they are dead. Was trying to refer to the cannons. I posted before reading about 400 posts!

"US response with tanks and Bradleys. no report of air cover for our guys (I cannot understand that)."

They returned fire with 120mm tank rounds,

Here's why. Air cover was likely VERY unnecessary:

XM1028 120mm Canister Tank Cartridge

The Tank Cartridge, 120mm, Canister, XM1028, is a tank round comprised of 1150 (est.) tungsten balls, which are expelled upon muzzle exit. There is no fuse on this round. While the dispersion pattern increases with range as the velocity of the balls decreases, the dense tungsten balls are used to minimize the velocity fall-off. This program responds to the USFK urgency of need signed by the CINC in Dec ‘99. RAPT Initiative Funding to be used for 6.0M in FY02 to accelerate development by one year earlier than previously planned.

This round meets urgent CINC, USFK requirements to provide effective rapid lethal reaction against massed assaulting infantry armed with hand held anti-tank and automatic weapons at close range (500 meters or less) thereby improving survivability. Additionally, this round will significantly increase the tank’s lethality and enhance the tank crew’s survivability. This additional capability will give the Abrams Tank the ability to survive RPG ambushes and to fully support friendly infantry assaults.

128's are not normally used as AP weaponry.

Canister rounds for the Abrams' 120mm main gun are now in normal issue, though fielded as an *XM* experimental item. Think of it as a shotgun with a bore 5 inches across.

Looks like the experiment was quite successful. But every scientist knows that experimental results have to be repeated and duplicated successfully.

This is great to get some good news through the regular media; however, they were almost apologetic!!!

What is the problem that we finally get back at some the ******* that have been killing and wounding our military people.

Maybe what we need is American newspeople that actually think like AMERICAN newspeople are supposed to think, not like the bulk of the elite, yet emotionally immature members of our press actually are when they are not doing drugs, alcohol or emotionally stressing social engagements!!

God Bless our troops and our President!

So, based on the Col. West case, are we going to court-martial all the American soldiers involved?

What disturbs me is that this type of reporting has been mute. Every single time some jerk Iraqis fire at our troops, we take action. But it's never reported how many of them we kill or capture, only the US solider shot.

We have some pretty fancy radar being used that detects RPG's and other mortar fire towards us and can even be programmed to fire back automatically. We normally kill those involved in the attack and usually send in teams to clean out the area with great results.

But let the left try, again, to run their playbook from 30 years ago and think their Vietnam reporting will work. It won't.

I hope so myself. He did say, while in Baghdad, that we were and would remain on the OFFENSIVE! That is important!

Being on the offensive and killing the enemy is how you win wars.

I'm so pleased to read of the enemy dying, instead of 1-5 Americans every day for the last month and a half.

Now if we can just keep it up (I know the military can do the job, I refer to the administration).

The enemy have been dying, it just doesn't get reported. Part of that is the fault of the administration to report those facts. But they probably have good reasons not to in many cases.

The truth on the ground is hardly ever communicated to us all.

Agreed.

I'll say what Bush can't: "We're killing muslims on arab soil. I'm the Christian President and I will light the Nation's Christmas tree in 20 days."
