We have been incredibly lucky not to have any soldiers or civilian contractors snatched as hostage-bait so far. Looks like the Spanish have drawn the short straw. Hostages are going to change the dynamic there very significantly.

What I don't understand is why other troops can't get there before reporters and start arresting the f*ckers dancing on the bodies.

This was on FOX with the camera crew mentioned in the story. They shot a little bit of footage, and had to get the heck out of there as they were the only Westerners...and were quickly becoming a target.

There's a definite plan to break up the coalition and intimidate anyone who appears to be working with the U.S. So far, we've seen attacks on the UN, the Red Cross, the Brits, the Poles, the Italians, the Ukranians and the Spaniards. No one is immune.

There are people you treat as humans, and then there are people you can't. Sounds like the happy locals mentioned need some negative feedback.

Was this an unarmed convoy? Why didn't they fight back?

Thanks, Hillary, for giving our enemies more hope with your Treason...

Does anybody else believe that the televised celebrations after such attacks MUST be attacked? We can't afford to send the message that it is more dangerous to support the coalition than oppose it. It can't succeed unless the Iraqis have incentives to aid the coalition.
Where on Earth are the Hellfire missiles? Drones should be over the heads of these bands of terrorist thugs and the thugs should be taken out. Do you want to send a message to the muslim world? Bomb the Hell out of the SOBs when they are on top of the bodies and mugging for the camera. Spare the Al Jazeera crew so they can send the tape to the networks. I think we need to show the bastards that they are not untouchable, we need to show them and their wannabes that they can be victims, they can be humiliated, they can be killed on our terms.
The Russian response was brilliant in the theater terror situation. They knocked the terrorists back on their heels and killed them before they were ready to die. We need to operate under the same principle.
God Bless Our Troops. May the policy makers learnt to understand and defeat our enemies. Lord, give us the will to do what we must. Lord, give us the sense and courage to bring the fight to the enemy in ways they can't anticipate or survive.

BBC update claims six dead .......
Spanish officers killed in Iraq
Spain has 1,000 troops in Iraq
At least six members of a Spanish intelligence team have been killed in an ambush south of Baghdad, the Spanish Defence Ministry says.
A journalist who passed the scene said he saw bodies lying in the road and two vehicles ablaze.
The eight-member team came under attack near the town of Hilla, as their convoy returned from a mission.
The attack come at the end of what has been the worst month so far for casualties in the US-led coalition.

Going after the coalition countries' soldiers one by one...They're tying to isolate us by defeating any international military support we have. Not a bad strategy (on their part) in the long run if it succeeds, leaving US with no support other than ourselves. It may work to destroy our military morale by removing any hope for reducing our deployed troops and increasing the hardships on the NG and Reserve units already there. They're (al-queda, other international terrorists) gonna have to lay low in the home countries of the units they are targeting for it to be successful though, IMO.

Err....Hillary is your ally not mine. She wants to send *more* troops in to this sewer, like you apparently. Face it.
To: LoudRepublicangirl
Clintonian approach? Naw....that's *your* approach. Hillary after all is on your side and has consistently supported this Wilsonian war. Heck, she even wants to send *more* troops into this sewer. How does it feel being on Hillary's side? Deal with it because that is the hard truth.

Are you a humanitarian interventionist? Based on what you said about being galled by brutual dicatatorships you must be. That means....that you supported the interventions in Haiti and Kosovo and support the sending of U.S. troops to Zibabwee and Liberia. If not, your position is totally inconsistent and properly dismissed as a mere debating tactic. Then again, if you are a consistent humanitarian interventionist, I salute your willingness to follow through on your convictions come hell or high water.
