Here is the letter I sent to all on the Ethics Committee, and Senator Bill Frist
RE: Senator Hillary Clinton comments to OUR soldiers
I am writing you in regards to Senator Hillary Clinton. What she said to our soldiers over in Iraq is demoralizing to say the least. I have friends and family over there now, or getting ready to go. How can a person (in guise of the former president) to whom the Military is anathema, and was party to the rape of our armed forces be allowed to travel to the sites of some of the most overwhelming military victories the world has EVER witnessed, and say the things she said Ill never understand.
In Iraq she said; "The Pentagon tried to make do with as few troops as possible, as light a footprint as they could get away with." and "Now, we're playing catch-up . . . Unfortunately, I don't think they fully appreciated the conditions we would encounter.". Implying that our troops wont be able to do the job, or that they are part of something bad foisted on them by the administration. This is the military that was gutted by her husband and the democrats.
She says; "Americans are wholeheartedly proud of what you are doing but there are many questions at home about the administration's policies." Again implying that somehow they shouldnt be there, or that their being there is something to be ashamed of.
She also suggested that the U.S. could eventually loose the war in Iraq, contending, "We have to exert all of our efforts militarily, but the outcome is not assured." What?! Hello Sen. Clinton, weve WON the war in Iraq. We are in the rebuilding process, and although there are still problems, we have for the most part pacified Iraq, and have rebuilt most of their infrastructure. At the end of World War II, we still had more than a decade of occupation ahead of us in Germany. In Iraq, we are looking to the middle of next year to hand the government back to the Iraqis, a matter of a couple of years.
Seditious comments like these, from a sitting senator, and a member of the Armed Forces Committee, to our military in the field, in a time of conflict are totally unacceptable. It is time for the Senate to clean house. She should be censured. She should resign from the Armed Forces Committee. The Senate as a body has to step up. Despite her comments, the American people are wholeheartedly behind our troops. Sadly, I cant say the same for their feelings regarding the Senate, and senators like Clinton.
