What a load of manure. But I expect nothing less from Tim Robbins.
To: txradioguy
Robbins is so out of touch and so filled with anger and hate for Bush..
As Robert Byrd would say: "Nasty, Nasty, Nasty"
My bother has been in LA for many years and works on a popular TV show...he tells me he hears left-wing garbage all day...he does not say a peep....it would be real trouble in LaLA Land...I send him good headlines and editorials from the NY Post and email great photos from FR...

FOX has been covering this today. They call it propaganda, because people were there to check out it's truthfulness. They found none. It's just a facist left wing hit piece.

Tim Robbins is a pansy. He can't take criticism. Didn't you see his "display" at the National Press Club earlier this year?

It's a play for local consumption. It got two glowing reviews from the Los Angeles Times. That is a chill wind in itself, this will not make Movie of the Week. The fact that Timmy is scoping his audience to an "LA few" is hilarious.
To: sauropod
Right. Robbins at Nat Press Club talks about the chill wind that's intimidating people (he's so intimidated, he writes and puts on a play) and it turns out that the terrible intimidating force is criticism.
Nobody is threatening his arrest, beating him up, threatening his fans, or threatening to have the IRS audit him (ala Clinton's IRS auditing Elizabeth Ward Grace, Kathleen Willey, the woman who asked Gore about rape of Juanita Broadrick, and numerous others).

So, you're telling me this won't fly in flyover country? *snarf*
I wonder if Susan Saringas is going to play Hotlips when his series comes out. *smirk*

Robbins and his audience have their headquarters firmly embedded in their hindquarters.

..Robbins, an ardent critic of President Bush, as well as the war, isn't a journalist, nor is he a soldier who has been to Iraq... Girly man Robbins, a soldier in Iraq? What a mental picture that brings forth. Robbins, every pocket of his fatigues stuffed with white flags, practising over and over in Arabic: "use me like you use your goats, but please don't hurt me."

We should fund a playwright: Tim Robbins, Susan, et al involved in molesting children at Micheal Jackson's ranch.
We'll call it a "satire" of the Hollywood elite.

"It is not propaganda. It is a voice of dissent, which is different than propaganda," said audience member Kadina Dayal-Halday.. Ms Kadinadayalhalday..
DEF: "Propaganda theorists maintain that the term has a value-neutral definition. Propaganda, simply put, is mass-communicated, persuasion: it is a cousin of the term "rhetoric," non-mass-communicated persuasive discourse."
I would maintain that the play, a dissenting opinion, coupled with mass media advertisement and coverage thereof, becomes propaganda.

"Not everything is factual, and maybe that is our fault through satire," added another "Embedded" actor, Kirk Pynchon, who plays a journalist. "Sometimes we make those errors, but it's the same kind of laughter that one gets watching an episode of MASH."Actually, MASH was anti War but showed how good people tried to cope with war via black humor.
The reason it was successful is that it was based on a true experience-- the original MASH was written by a very conservative doctor who later practiced in Maine...
Even the liberal tv show which was anti war did not make it propaganda...because the soldiers were painted as good guys, even most of the officers...
The black humor of MASH was the black humor of the emergency room and the ICU....families might think it crass but we care, and use black humor to keep sane in a terrible environment...it's in a vein of medical humor such as the novel "house of God" based on boston's Beth Israel hospital, or even that TV series St. Elsewhere...
Robbins, however, is writing propaganda. HE HAS NEVER BEEN TO WAR. So it is based on imagination.
Great novelists can do this if they do good research with those who were there, or with wide reading of what those who were there wrote. But cheap novelists just use a historical background to put their own ideas into it...and they are quickly discarded for the trash they actually are....
Robbins' play has no basis in truth, so will fade
Personally, I'm waiting for "devil dog diaries" from the usually liberal National Geographic to come out on DVD...now THAT made me cry. And the liberal National Geographic wouldn't kowtow to pc correctness, since they hate GWB 's environmental policies...

He needs to be taken down a notch or six.
Rhetorical Question: Who do you think wears the pants in the Robbins-Sarandon relationship? ;-)
