I had my first gun, a single shot 22 Remington rifle, at 9 years old. My Dad felt strongly that knowledge of how to handle a gun and gun responsibility can only be taught by having the kid own one.
The kids that shoot friends or themselves when they come across a gun have never had the benefit of being trained on their lethality and proper use.
Ignorance is not the answer!!
