Your children (and mine) will never be at the mercy of a bigger, stronger adult.

Provided, of course, that they are armed at the particular time.
Please: do NOT forget 'manual training' - physical self defense doesn't require a carry permit, is always 'carried', is a proven lifesaver in more instances than armed confrontations, and can be freely taught at home without expensive courses (going to a storefront-school to 'prance around in their pyjamas' costs big-bucks).
There's no reason that, close-in, a kid with training cannot disable an adult attacker enough to get away to safety.

Very valid point.

Every parent should teach their children the value of a well-placed kick to the.... ummmmm.... family jewels can deflect an attack and that fingernails (and keys) do considerable damage to eyeballs.
