Upon approaching the house, a seven-year-old child came out with an AK-47 rifle pointed at the soldiers. A soldier responded in self-defense and shot the child in the foot.

Frikkin kid is really lucky to be alive period!!! You just don't do that with heavily armed soldiers around, especially given the circumstances.

It's sad when little kids used in wars. The soldier probably had a crying baby to comfort after he stopped him from shooting them.

Sounds like they ran in, gave the kid a gun, and sent him outside to run interference while the ran out the back door. I suspect there is a special place in hell for such men.

I got news, he wasn't a good aim nor was he showing "amazing restraint"--the kid would've been deader than a hammer had this guy not missed the center-mass shot he was going for. My guess is the kid came out, guys were ducking, jumping, dropping, and this one Joe got a shot off and accidentally hit the kid in the foot. Pure luck was involved here, folks. That kid should be dead.

I agree that training would dictate center mass, but some troops have been thinking long and hard and may be deviating from their training because they don't want to wake up every night with a dead child's face haunting them.

I am not saying that it is right, but it has happened before.

What is a seven year old child doing holding an AK 47? My son who is only eleven wouldn't even be allowed to hold that kind of weapon. I'm not comfortable that he shot a GLOCK and according to my hubby, he did very well!

You know it. I'm very glad this guy's aim was so off in this case. Not that I want the kid dead or anything, but the negative PR alone would be bad enough by itself.
