CNN Criticizing Bush Iraq Visit
CNN
Posted on 11/27/2003 10:57:51 PM PST by Williams
Just saw the CNN coverage of the President's courageous Thanksgiving Day trip to Bagdhad. They were dumping on the President like crazy. In about ten minutes, correspondent after correspondent was saying it was a political stunt, that it was designed to make us forget about the aircraft carrier "political stunt" which supposedly had backfired, that soldiers' families may blame bush for any attacks over the next few days because they still blame Bush for saying "bring it on" and the insurgents may feel the visit was too "in your face." The anchor said sternly that 184 Americans have died since Bush declared the end to major combat on that aircraft carrier. They featured the "Mission Accomplished" banner on the aircraft carrier, which as we know was a banner celebrating the ship's succesful mission, not a claim by the President that the war was over.
Their correspondent in Bagdhad said that despite the applause, the troops were grumbling behind the scenes, and as evidence he quoted soldiers saying things like "I just want to get home alive." The anchor asked the correspondent if the President's trip will change anything on the ground, and the correspondent answered angrily "Absolutely not!" He then went on to give a grim prediction of increasing attacks on Iraqi civilians in the days ahead.
There was more but so much in ten minutes it was hard to remember it all. When they started saying Bush would be personally responsible for any attacks on U.S. troops in the next few days, I gave up and went on line to complain to all of you.
It was scary. They reported that Kerry praised the President for visiting the troops on Thanksgiving, but then said gravely "But Mr. Kerry went on to say that he hopes when Thanksgiving is over, the President will change his failed policy." The reporters were obviously angry that the President had done something so effective, and it was clear they had regrouped and put together reports designed to convince everyone that despite this trip the President is a total failure.
There was even an interview with a prominent Republican strategist, in which he was saying that although Bush is projecting an image as a strong leader, he also needs to come home and connect with the average voter and make him feel Bush is someone you could "sit down and have a beer with." They made it very clear that in CNN's twisted opinion being a forceful commander in chief was a detriment and meant Bush was not as "average Joe." They twisted another GOP analyst interview in which it was said that Iraq is Bush's biggest political liability because it's unpredictable and events there can have unexpected impacts on the election. The reporters made it sound like Bush's Iraq policy is his greatest liability, whereas that was not the analyst's point.
I don't usually watch the CNN crap, but Fox was on reruns and I wanted to see more coverage of the President's visit. I am sure the broadcast networks (which I never watch) will not allow themselves to be outdone by CNN.

come home and connect with the average voter and make him feel Bush is someone you could "sit down and have a beer with." Where do they find people who say such stupid things on the day our President served sweet potatoes in a cafeteria line to G.I. Joes? CNN lost touch with reality a lonnnnnng time ago. .

CNN and their fellow libs seem to exude a (barely) repressed sort of glee when things go badly in Iraq for us. But when the Prez makes a visit which delights and uplifts the toops, they're despondent.
A sick and evil bunch.

CNN would have been able to report cheering baathists throwing flowers.
If Pelosi, Kennedy, Daschel, Leheay had shown up in Tikrit!

As the fellow said on the other thread: CNN = Communist News Network
"He then went on to give a grim prediction of increasing attacks on Iraqi civilians in the days ahead....When they started saying Bush would be personally responsible for any attacks on U.S. troops in the next few days, I gave up and went on line to complain to all of you."
Vent away, but I for one will hold our media responsible for any attacks during the next few days.

The liberal media cannot permit Bush to have any positive news as the election approaches. The President would be criticized if he walked on water. He damn near did it today. By the way, I've only heard one quick mention that the President was in the cockpit as Air Force One landed in Bagdhad.

must of been an oversight. /sarcasmActually, I believe it was just the "luck of the draw" per the normal press pool rotation.
Nothing but the white house, even under these extraordinary circumstances, operating in it's normal orderly and professional fashion. That's the way adults behave.

I also watched these miserable commie f*cks portray the Thanksgiving Iraq visit to the carrier landing complete with the "mission accomplished" banner. These loser pinkos have no shame and sour grapes will get them nowhere!
Admittedly, 30% of the population have no clue as to where Iraq is and what's at stake other than whom the bachelor selects at the end of the sweeps week, but the shifting 10% do understand propaganda when they see it on CNN.
The libs are coming apart like a cheap Taiwanese watch.
