Kris Kristofferson seemed to recover quite nicely.

she soon had difficulty eating and sleeping and could not return to work, and was treated by a psychologist for post-traumatic stress disorder.

Apparently, she only claimed she couldn't return to work as a flight attendant. Even if she now claimed she absolutely can't work at any job, and sought Social Security, I'd be skeptical. I'm not hardhearted, but really - snap out of it! She lived, unlike the woman with whom she traded shifts, so perhaps she should ponder what she can do with this great gift, other than whine victimhood.

He sent for his two sisters in 1912, who traveled to England but encountered delays and missed their ship. That ship was the Titanic, and they would have been steerage passengers, which would have been a near-certain death sentence. They never got over it and both of them suffered nightmares and psychological problems for the rest of their lives.
Yet neither of them hired a shyster lawyer and sued White Star Lines for damages. In spite of the nightmares, I'd bet they also felt very lucky to have missed that boat.

The issue in this isn't whether this lady suffers nightmares or other emotional stress from the incident.

The issue is why she expects others to pay her way because she was lucky enough not to be killed in those attacks.

They did feel lucky indeed. It would have been a waste of time to sue the White Star Line; besides, they were nearly passengers; it's not like they were crew who switched places with another crew member who died. It's not exactly the same thing; I'm just merely providing evidence of survivors' guilt.

"As I said above, if she's truly disabled as a result of emotional trauma, she's got some serious Social Security benefits coming to her. I'd like to know why she hasn't gone that route."

One good reason is that SS disability is pretty poor protection for an injured worker. My wife was a SS disability examiner for about 4 years and the disability insurance product offered by SS is so inequitable and arbitrary no private insurer would be allowed to sell it. The requirements are arbitrary, capricious and outdated. She had a blind college professor at Yale who qualified automatically when the professor decided to take a few years off but a cop with single site cancer couldn't qualify until the cancer spread even though it killed him before it did.
