"What's with the 3-star's expression?" Wiping a tear of joy from his eyes.

Look at the other pictures. He took off his glasses and is rubbing the bridge of his nose. It's just like in that pivotal scene in the movie Twelve Angry Men when Henry Fonda convinces the jury that the woman witness wears glasses when she didn't in the courtroom, because he saw her rubbing her nose.

I heard someone who knows him saying that that gesture is what he does to "stop the tears". Apparently he was pretty thrilled to see his CinC as well!
A friend of mine reported that his SIL, ex-Marine (and they never are; once a Marine, always a Marine) anyway, he said that his SIL had to wipe away the tears when he saw the Pictures of his CinC crossing the stage in Baghdad!
I've always maintained that Marines become Marines to hide behind the "tough and the ready" because they are the biggest softies. They are tough, but inside they are just big Teddy Bears! I love 'em, so please - don't flame me for these comments. I've just known a lot of them, and they are the same - touch on the outside, big softies on the inside.
