As I've been typing, I'm listening to a holiday radio broadcast of a pre-recorded
tape by radio show host Michael Medved, titled "The Secret History of Christmas".
Medved reviews the influence of Holland in shaping the concept of "Santa Claus"...
all the fascinating stuff we never get in school.

Here we got 'Sinterklaas', which was brought over by Dutch settlers to the US, and changed into 'Santa Claus'. Sinterklaas is a saint ('sint' is Dutch for saint) and he brings presents for the children.
