I realize that this is a late reply but phone cards can always be sent after Christmas!

I've heard from several guys that the best cards to send are AT&T. They get to actually use more of the minutes on the cards, and AT&T seems to be the company they connect with when they use the phones from wherever they are.

Just thought I'd stick in a late two cents worth.

For those interested in buying some of the AT&T pre-paid calling cards, the store locator is at this link: http://www.consumer.att.com/prepaidcard/fy/fas.html

I checked a few zip codes and it appears that they can usually be purchased at US Post Office, as well as some stores.
