Always an interesting debate.

The Chinese were the 1st around the world:"1421: The Year China Discovered the World by Gavin Menzies"

An excellently researched book.

Once again science has given us definitive answers, in fact two of them, and neither agrees with the other.

If the Vinland map is authentic, why is Greenland shown as an island?
This wasn't known until several centuries after the alleged time of the map, if authentic.

Tom Daschle is deeply saddened and very concerned.

Don't know. Maybe the Inuit/natives told them?

Using Occam's razor, it's much more likely that the map is a very clever fake. [Unfortunate, as I'd like to believe that it's legitimate.]

I think the Piri Reis Map is dated to 1513AD.

If you notice, North America is shown as an island as well. The answer is that they guessed about the parts that they couldn't check. Or, as some claim there was a warming that allowed farms and livestock to be grown there at the time of Leif Eriksson. Which might have allowed the circumnavigation of Greenland. And would account for the demise of the colony during the cooling that occurred later. Or, maybe I just et to much turkey and dreamed the whole thing.
