After startled cry, UND senior vanishes (Dru Sjodin)

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Dru Sjodin finished her shift at the Victoria's Secret store at 4 p.m. Saturday, then did a little shopping at another store in the Columbia Mall in Grand Forks.

As she walked to her car, the 22-year-old University of North Dakota senior from Pequot Lakes, Minn., used her cell phone to call her boyfriend in the Twin Cities. They talked for about 10 minutes, he later told authorities, until the call ended with a startled cry from Dru:

"Oh, my God! No!"

Nobody has heard from her since.

A few hours later, there was a second brief and voiceless call to her boyfriend, and the signal from her cell phone was tracked to a rural area near Fisher, Minn., 13 miles southeast of Grand Forks.

Throughout the city Monday, people took up her disbelieving cry: "Oh, my God, No!"

Im not saying she staged her own abduction, Im saying her boyfriend could have hired someone to do it. Im just asking them to check his previous phone records to see if he made any phone calls to this guy they caught, and check his bank records to see if he made any recent large transactions. Anythings a possibility, thats all Im saying. They said that 2 people had made threatening messages to her. One kept calling her at work and harassing her, and the other had said something about her not being able to give him what he wanted. She could have been cheating on chris and he knew it so she hired someone to kidnap her. Or she might not have been giving chris what he wanted so he was fed up with it and wanted her gone. Its always a possibility, and they need to check every angle.

Why do we keep letting these people out?

The anti-war on drugs folks would tell you that it's because the prisons are full of people who did a little pot :-/

I personally think they are let out because nobody wants to really punish anybody seriously over anything short of murder. Most sentences these days are not very good deterents (if they are at all) and so people are willing to risk time to do crazy stuff.

There is also that segment of society that is just plain sick and needs to be locked up and have the key thrown away. Nobody wants to talk about/think about them (although the 3-strikes laws are going a long way towards taking care of the problem).

I had already heard he was a citizen, but, Hello? We certainly do send illegal aliens to U.S. prisons. All the time. They're a significant percentage of the prison population in some states. The problem is that very often they're allowed to walk free after their release, just as if they were citizens. Due to liberal stupidity, which in some places forbids state or city employees from calling the IRS on anyone.

Did you not read, a couple of weeks ago, about a federal operation to round up and deport illegal aliens who were freed sex offenders? They got about a dozen in Rhode Island alone.
