A lawsuit filed earlier this month by nine illegal immigrant janitors against Wal-Mart is part of a larger problem in this country stemming from the hire of illegal workers by many corporations, said James Linsey, who is representing the plaintiffs.

300 in a sweep of 60 stores or 5 per store. Plus they worked for a subcontractor, not Walmart. So who is responsible? If you have a group of contractors working for you are you responsible to insure that all their employees are legal? That they are abiding by all other US laws, such as EEO? And what about their subs? Or purchases of material from other companies?

How far does it go?

I think that these lawsuits are one of several factors that may see the pendulum swinging against the hiring of illegals.

I love the comment about Dodge City, Kansas being 50% Hispanic. Dodge City! for crying out loud! In the heart of the country is a city that is 50% Hispanic.

Time to start reversing this tide of invasion. Oh, I forgot: I'll mow my damned lawn myself.

"And it protects everybody. It is not correct, to say the least, to say that because someone is here illegally that they are not entitled to the same rights that we enjoy."

Sorry, It is correct. If you are not a citizen of the US you do not have the same rights as a citizen. You are an invader and should be treated as one.

Any american company/share holder that hires illegals, should be put out of business, lose their license, and sued for all the money they have.

Just what makes Dodge City a Mexican magnet...chicken killing or beef processing? Any time a place has 50% illegal aliens, some employers need to be raided big time! Now I understand the old saw, "Get outta Dodge!"

Most of them are there to work in the beef packing plants. Nearby Garden City Ks. is as bad, if not worse. Both in boom town mode, mostly with illegals IMHO.

The simplest way to stem this tide is the businessmen who are currently shipping jobs off to India should look to Mexico instead. This would have multiple beneficial effects. 1) It would provide jobs there in Mexico which are currently sorely lacking. 2) It would increase the skill base in Mexico. 3) Since they are NAFTA partners, we could trade with them at a lower cost to ourselves for the same services as we currently get from India. 4) It would reduce illegal immigration to the US due to #1 above. 5) It would encourage English to become more prolific in Mexico which would help immigrants later in life if legal immigrants come over.

The simplist way to stem this tide,is to put these business men in prison, after fining them into bankruptcy. Bankrupting their companies, and putting them into prison will stop this.

The companies that are shipping our jobs off to India are not breaking laws, they are following markets. India has put forth a great effort to get their people trained here in America, and as such, those that return can make a decent wage by standards there and provide a service that companies in America can take advantage of. If we started pushing our companies that want to outsource to foreign labor to invest in Mexico, we would stem the tide of illegal aliens and provide better conditions both here and there. Here because we wouldn't be forking out billions to support those who are not supposed to be here and there because there would be better wages to help keep their best at home.

"It is not correct, to say the least, to say that because someone is here illegally that they are not entitled to the same rights that we enjoy."

Uh...WRONG. They are "entitled" to basic human rights, but they do NOT have all the rights a U.S. citizen has. They do not have the same rights as a legal resident either.

That quote by the slimy lawyer and the concept he perpetrates with that is where the problem starts.

"These lawsuits are a powerful tool as a disincentive for employers to hire these illegal workers,"

The problem is that these lawsuits would be filed regardless if the circumstances were true or not.

To be quite honest, I could care less if the employer did or did not abuse the illegal. Since the U.S. is not enforcing immigration laws, let the illegal sue. The employer is guilty.
