Reading stories on FR does not amount to anything, other people will swear something happened via your undocumented claim.

Real news of Muslims dancing in the streets and celebrating the murder of thousands of Americans on 9/11 would have been impossible to suppress to a degree where absolutely NOTHING (other than urban legends) can be found about it on the Internet.

Sounds to me like the Jihadis succeeded in threatening him and he decided he prefers to live.

Could be, but I wonder if this how he has really felt all along and the "Memo" article was written to try and help take some of the heat off of his fellow Muslims after 9-11.

After looking at the article you posted, I searched and found his website, where he lists his articles in chronological order.

It'd be interesting to see what kind of stuff he wrote prior to 9-11.

I also caught a bit of his bio and it seems that he is an Indian Muslim, so that may account for his softer views than most Arab Muslims.

It actually was in the news -- at this link there is a quote from FoxNews & you can watch the CNN video.

However, just because some of them are terrorist supporters, doesn't mean that all Muslims are.

Excerpt from A Memo to Americans

Any observer of the Palestinian problem, who does not nurse malice towards Islam, will understand why many Palestinians would resort to suicide bombings against Israel. Surely, if we were to equip them with F-16s and Apache helicopters they would also fight fair and square with Israel. As far as killing of innocent civilians is concerned, the Israeli army kills many times more Palestinian children than the casualties caused by suicide bombers. Those are realities of the region. Islam however, is irrelevant to the Israeli-Palestine violence.

Excerpt from US MIDEAST POLICY TAKES TURN FOR THE WORSE

Be that as it may, US policy towards the Middle East has certainly changed in fundamental ways. Comprehensive peace and the desire for a New Middle East, politically serene and economically integrated, were the cornerstones of Bill Clinton’s American vision of the region. But George Bush and Colin Powell are more interested in the security of Israel and reviving adversarial relations with Iran, Libya, Sudan, and Iraq.

It's also interesting to note that most of his pre 9-11 articles are inaccessible from the glocaleye website.

Did you see his article "Memo to Bin Laden"?

http://www.ijtihad.org/BinladenII.htm

"Once the war is declared, make no mistake Mr. Saddam Hussain and Mr. Bin Laden, We are with America. We will fight with America and we will fight for America.

I conclude by calling upon you Mr. Bin Laden and your Al Qaeda colleagues and Mr. Saddam Hussain to surrender to International Courts and take responsibility for your actions and protect thousands of other innocent Muslims from becoming the victims of the wars you bring upon them. "

I read somewhere that Khan is a Muslim from India, which would explain that he is not an extremist, like many Arab Muslims. That is why I tend to believe that he really is a more moderate Muslim, rather than someone who was more extreme and just pretending to be moderate.

But his writings lately have become more anti-American. Maybe the anti-Americanism of liberals at the Brookings Institute is rubbing off on him...

From the few articles I have skimmed of his it seems more likely that he is returning to his old style of writing now that 9-11 is safely behind him.

I was half kidding, when I said his anti-Americanism stems from the association with the Brooking Institute, then I clicked on his resume and saw that he became a visiting fellow there in May 2003 and lo and behold, that is when he started to write his anti-US articles!

His articles at the glocaleye.com site goe back to Nov. 17, 2000 -- but it seems like his earlier articles are at mestream.com, which site is not coming up now at all.

Today President Bush pardoned GeekDejure for using large fonts while posting on the FreeRepublic web site. Knowing that GeekDejure is nearly blind, and further knowing that FreeRepublic Moderators continually refused to specify a maximum font size, Mr. Bush was pleased to pardon GeekDejure regarding any and all font size charges brought against him by any and all Freepers !!!

Thank You Mr. President !!!

Rest assured that you have my 2004 vote !!!

These guys are talking about Muslims celebrating and dancing in New Jersey, Dearborn, and Detroit, not The West Bank.

The West Bank celebrations are a well-documented fact.

I honestly believe that there has been no shift in sentiment, just a shift in tactics. Khan's writings in other countries are easy to find and condemning of the US in almost every area.

The more insidious tentacles of islam in America have spent years tunneling into our infrastructures and building nests. A significant tactic has been to create the appearance of moderation and a sense of assimilation. Many if not most of the people and corporate/charitable/religious entities involved in this effort have been exposed and/or indicted for real connections to al-queda, hamas, hezbollah, etc. The Muslim World League, The SAAR Network, CAIR, the Florida Professor, Chaplain Yee, etc are all examples of this.

Another, all but unknown example is the post 9.11 arrest of a muslim naturalized citizen who had ties to some of the organizations. At the time he was picked up he was the Facilities Engineer (running the power plant) at a West Coast Naval Station. (I know the LEO who cuffed him) He had been there for six years...kinda makes one wonder about the blackout last summer.

In the 9.7.03 NYT piece by Khan he states that muslims have to earn the right to "demand" that we change for them. He is telling us what their intentions are in America. We would be foolish beyond redemption not to hear what they're saying.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I haven't heard of this -- as you said, it has not received much publicity.

These things are truly disturbing, to say the least.

Post them.

Post a link, find a credible source.

There were no Muslims dancing and celebrating in American streets on 9/11, no way ALL US media would have failed to report it, and had there truly been Muslims dancing in the streets celebrating the attacks, they would have been torn to pieces by enraged citizens.

Your rumors debunked.

Your link doesnt disprove anything I stated. As a matter fact, there were some muslims that knew about 9-11 in advance. There were reports of muslim school kids that brought cameras to class on 9-11. There was even a report by a teacher that had one of her students tell her that the WTC would not be there next week. This was reported on either msnbc's or msn's website.

Happy Thanksgiving Luis.

Not going there with you. It is OK that you want to embrace Muslim Americans. Really, it makes no difference to me at all. The bottom line is that there is no doubt in my mind concerning this insidious philosophy of Islam. I know we have a difference of opinion here and it is not my intent to attempt to change your mind nor debate my opinion with you. I don't think we, either one of us, would have much success in that regard.

The good news is that we live in a country with a philosophy, so far that allows us to disagree and we can even do so agreeably.

God Bless you and yours this holiday season.

"Your link doesn't disprove anything I stated."

That's funny, considering the fact that you've failed to prove anything you have stated.

Here's a quote from the link provided:

In a wider context, the basic rumor is even sometimes voiced as a generalized "Arabs were celebrating in the streets" claim:

Have you heard that Arab Americans were publicly celebrating the events of September 11 in some large US cities? Supposedly this was suppressed by news agencies.

Needless to say, such a story would not have been sat upon by the media -- it would have run on every front page across the nation in the same manner as the video of celebrating Palestinians achieved widespread air play.

Other blossomings of the rumor have Arab schoolchildren cheering from their seats in U.S. schools.

Obviously, you can't read English.

"As a matter fact, there were some Muslims that knew about 9-11 in advance."

Now, that's about the dumbest thing you've posted yet. I guess I should be surprised that this was not a spontaneous event where some Muslims on four different flights, complete strangers mind you, suddenly stood up and decided to hijack airplanes and crash them into things.

"There were reports of Muslim school kids that brought cameras to class on 9-11."

There were probably some non-Muslim kids who brought cameras too.

Now, all you've done on this thread is post unsubstantiated rumors, back something up with facts.

By the way, about your FReeper name...is that your occupation, or is it where you go to meet chicks?

There may not have been dancing in the street, but in a major hospital near here, in a ward where many arabs were convalescing and receiving treatment, there were a great deal of huzzahs, hugs and air kisses among the men after the planes hit and the towers collapsed. The staff who observed this were horrified.

It was obvious to the nurse there that they were celebrating. She wanted to barf, leave or something worse, but professionalism won out.

Wasn't dancing in the streeets but the sentiment was exactly the same as in the West Bank.
