I have been very critical of the State of FL for its mistreatment of poor Terri.
Now I am wondering if I have been wrong. Mrs. Nellie Connally said on Larry King Live Saturday that no one should hold Dallas in disdain because it is the place where JFK was killed and where John B. Connally was seriously wounded. Dallas was not to blame, she explained, it was merely the site of the tragedy.
Similarly, the people of FL are not directly to blame for Terri's plight. Most of the players were not even born in FL, including Schiavo, the Schindlers, George W. Greer, and George J. Felos. FL just happens to be the site of this horrible injustice. Nearly any other state could be the one.
However, if FL reelects George W. Greer and Douglas Baird and the other pro-death judges, I will have to rethink my "pass" for FL at this time.

Let me tell you, I've been in FL for 12 yrs now and I absolutely can't believe that the FL Supremes were reelected after the 2000 election fiasco, but they were. I think there is a lot of 'ignorance' about what is going on and a lot of apathy. It will take a lot of work (emails, phone calls, etc) to make sure that people remember the situation and don't reelect these crumbs....

Here's my view, as a Floridan.
This case never should have reached this stage. We had complete faith in our legal system, and elected and appointed officials in deciding the right way according to laws on the books. The entire county has failed. They have failed Terri and placed her life in danger. They have failed the citizens in this state.
