"promote the general welfare" has been used as a reasn to justify every sort of expansion of gov't. It's for your own good.(gag and barf)

Americans as a people decided years ago they prefer "security" over freedom.

There is no definition of "promote" that has anything to do with funding it!

Promoting the general welfare is a State Dept. function, all hot air and no money.

They can get on a soap box all day every day in the park and scream about the need for "general welfare" but it doesn't give them the right to steal from productive citizens to provide for the cost of existrnce of the indigent.

As far as i'm concerned, the day I can't totally support myself and family I don't have any right to be taking up space on this planet.
