As someone who dutifully voted AGAINST Alan Wheat, and then against his successor, McCarthy, I would LOVE to see a non-democrat have a chance in the district... But I simply don't think that's possible. Given that most voters in the district have the same attitudes as the Washington DC voters, who put Marrion Barry back into office, I just don't think it will ever happen (ask someone who lives in KCMO about Carol Coe sometime!).
