FIA Should Arrest The Big Fish: Faisal

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Nov 19 (PNS) - Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat has directed the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) to intensify its efforts in apprehending the people involved in human smuggling.

He was chairing a high-level meeting of FIA officials here Tuesday. The meeting reviewed the strategies being made to achieve maximum results in shortest possible time. “Cosmetic measures won’t work. Result-oriented approach should be adopted to ensure the arrest of big fish in order to discourage others from indulging in this heinous crime,” the Minister clearly stated.

Faisal Saleh Hayat said that FIA should formulate a comprehensive strategy at macro-level to control human smuggling and follow it vigorously. In response to the reservations of FIA regarding lack of resources, he asked the Director General to put up proposals for revamping the Agency’s set-up all over the country.

During the last days FIA Lahore and Karachi Passport Circles have arrested about 100 major human traffickers. These include big names like Muhammad Bashir Hazaria, Barkat Ali Jakharani, Muhammad Siddiq, Syed Tahir Abbas Shah, Haji Moin Ahmed, Muhammad Shafi, Syed Anwer Hussain, Feroz, Ronald Johan, raja Ehsan ul Haq and Ch. Tariq Mahmood.

These people were involved in sending hundreds of illegal emigrants to various European, African and Asian countries and extorted millions of rupees from innocent people.

The Karachi Circle has also arrested some big names in the past as well. These include Yousuf Odd, Amjad, Aamir, Sheraz, Tahir, Tanveer, Anis Ahmed Khan Yousufzai, Aslam Hayat, Manzoor Hussain and representatives of Swissport Jeddah Project.
