OK, you made the grade.
Why are you against Col. West?
What did he do that was so wrong?
Do you have a problem with him keeping his troops alive?
Is there a little sympathy for terrorists in your soul?

I care less than a crap about the terrorists, let them meet their virgins on the end of my bayonet!
Problem with LTC West is he:
1. Failed to set the example and do the right thing by following the standing order for treatment of detainees. Those rules are there for many reasons other than PC treatment of some jihadi and they have been listed extensively on these threads.
2. He allowed his subordinates to "rough up" the Iraqi, and then NJP'd them or allowed it. As far as I'm concerned, if an EM took one in the keester because of this incident LTC West deserves a hell of a lot more punishment because he has a hell of a lot more power and responsibility.
3. There is absolutely no proof or reason to believe that his troops were in any more of "imminent" danger because of this particular Iraqi than they were at any time in the previous 2 months. IMO LTC West took the threat on his life personally and acted on it without regard to any of his men that he "would walk through hell with gasoline can for". He wanted his answer right then because he didn't want to die, had nothing whatsoever to do with his soldiers.
All of this is clear, and all of this is well documented. There is a whole lot more to this story that is not released yet because the only side allowed to talk so far is LTC West and his attorney, but aside from that those three facts would have me doubting the leadership ability of any officer.
