(Groton-AP Nov. 21, 2003 8:20 AM)_ The Navy is investigating the discovery of a body in a burning car at the Submarine base in Groton.

The Navy says there was a report of a burning vehicle in a barracks parking lot about one-thirty this morning.

When emergency personnel put out the fire they discovered a body.

The Navy says the victim has not yet been identified and the death and fire is under investigation.

Groton is the "Submarine Capital of the World". The US Coast Guard Academy is in New London nearby. Remember the alerts about underwater terror attacks --this could be a non-compliant agent.

Or it could be an "everyday crime"?

or s suicide. some sailor wanted to go out in a blaze of glory?

I remmember a while back some high tech navel geek got waylaid in New London across the river. His body was ofund in the river, and his car and it's classified contents gone. they were found several months later, also in the river. IIRC, the guy got drunk and forgot to stop.

Good points.

I was thinking about the woman in Tennessee who was also discovered in a burnt-out car when she was about to testify against some swarthy foreigners trying to get drivers' licenses illegally.

More like revenge against a guy who had trouble keeping his hands off another person's wife or lady friend or who had difficulty paying a debt or who may have known something related to something illegal, like gambling, drugs, loan sharking, etc., that someone else didn't want him to talk about.

revenge against a guy who had trouble keeping his hands off another person's wife or lady friend ...

The NIS will assume that there is some homosexual connection somewhere in the case.
