British Minister compares terrorism to Nazim, tyranny
By DOUGLAS DAVIS
LONDON
British Muslims are outraged at a challenge by Foreign Office Minister Denis MacShane to choose between the "British way" of political dialogue and Islamic terrorism.
In the aftermath of the bombing of British interests in Istanbul Thursday, which claimed 27 lives, including British Consul-General Roger Short, MacShane likened the terrorists to the Nazis.
In a speech on Friday, he called on imams and other Muslim leaders to use "clearer, stronger language" to denounce Islamic extremists.
"It is time for the elected and community leaders of British Muslims to make a choice," said MacShane. "It is the British way - based on political dialogue and non-violent protests - or it is the way of the terrorists against which the whole democratic world is now uniting.
"I hope we will see clearer, stronger language that there is no future for any Muslim cause anywhere in the world that validates, or implicitly supports, the use of political violence in any way.
"Democracy has no place for terrorism and - like Nazism and other forms of tyranny - it must be defeated by the common will and determination of all who live under rule of law and in democratic freedom."
Spokesman for the Muslim Council of Britain Inayat Bunglawala responded angrily that, "We do not need lectures from a representative of a Government that has conducted an unlawful war against Iraq.
"The Muslim community," he said, "has consistently condemned terrorism and we condemn this latest attack on the British consulate and HSBC in Turkey. Our sympathies go out to the relatives of the Turkish and British families.
"The attacks only emphasize that the disastrous war in Iraq has not reduced the risk of terrorism, as our own Governments had us believe beforehand, but has exacerbated it.
Bunglawala added that if MacShane was serious about wanting to reduce the war on terrorism, he and the government should seek ways of reducing the causes of terrorism.
"It is about time the government recognizes that the war on terrorism is failing, just as the anti-war movement warned them on Iraq."
Last month, Home Secretary David Blunkett provoked an angry response from Britain's Muslim community when he warned that extremist imams were increasing the terrorism threat by preying upon impressionable youngsters.
"We have to understand what is happening in a world where young men and women can be enjoined by their religious leaders to take their own lives and others as suicide bombers," he said.

Another added to the growing list of Brits who get it and are willing to speak up. Pity it took the bombings in Istanbul to get this sort of reaction.

The Islamofascist are mad because they've worked so hard with their leftist friends at convincing folks that Bush is the Nazi.

A UK minister makes the kind of statement we simply haven't seen from UK ministers. It sounds like a policy change to me, and a big one, from a major US ally. That sounds like breaking to me.

It's not a policy change... this is a minister comparing one evil group to another evil group, and saying its ok to do so.
Not to be the Board Nazi, but the Breaking News abuse is getting ridiculous.

The U.S. State Department won't like that.

As long as the muslim community leaders like this one refuse to step up to the plate and condemn terrorism instead of attempting to shift the blame, then the muslim community will continue to fail on the grounds of moral credibility.

British Muslims are outraged at a challenge by Foreign Office Minister Denis MacShane to choose between the "British way" of political dialogue and Islamic terrorism. Of course they're welcome to return to a more Muslim society. Say, Yemen or Indonesia.

No, he doesn't need lectures. He needs to be removed from the country.

That's stating the obvious. Arab Muslims were allied with the Nazis in WWII; most Arab states are directly modelled on National Socialism; both are based on violent lying totalitaran dictatorships; both place zero value on human life; both have elaborate national myths based on complete historical revisionism; both believe the ends justifies the means; both murder the minorities living in their midst; and both aspire to territorial conquest. No wonder leftists love them.

Yes, it's obvious to you and me. The British Foreign Office never says so publicly. Usually they, like the U.S. State Department, seem to be afraid to upset the Muslim populations at home and abroad. This kind of strong public statement coming from the U.K. is new and long overdue.

The Brits are going to have to clean out the barn. There are a lot of radical Imams over there and they need to be deported to the countries where most of them are wanted fugitives.
When the government finally takes this stand, they will be amazed at how many British people applaud.
