W will lose my vote if this behemoth passes. Seniors are the wealthiest segment of the population, and we don't need it b/c 70% of them already have drug coverage elsewhere.

The problem is seniors DO vote. That's what matters to every politician running for reelection next year. And when the AARP wants this bill, its hard to say NO to them, especially when the GOP can pocket the geezer vote and leave the Democratic presidential nominee and hundreds of congressional and Senate Democratic candidates without an issue to run with against the President and a Republican Congress.
