Fighting between security forces and armed militants in Bingol province has yielded 14 dead militants as well as their weaponry.
The Governor of Bingol, Huseyin Avni Cosh, told at a press conference that a confrontation at the Karacehennem (black hell) forests in Karliova county started in the early morning and lasted eight hours.
Along with the corpses, one M-16, 2 Kanas rifles, 11 Klashnikov long barrel rifles, 4.6 Kilograms of C4 explosive, 60 hand grenades, and large amounts of other ammo were secured.
The governor, who asserted that the militants were preparing for terrorist activity, stated that "It's obvious that the terrorists didn't bring their explosives and Kanas rifles to stroll around the fields. But the group has been decemated as a result of the operation." The governor also stated that counter terrorism operations were being continued in the area.

Is this the same group responsible for the bombings in Turkey?

No. But terrorists are like the Mafia. They will cooperate when it suits them.
These are the terrorists hiding in the mountains of northern Iraq.

People are worried. Interesting, worry seems such a fleeting and insolated emotion for so many people.
I hope Turkey finds more steadfast allies than the US has.

I wonder if the militants were supplied with weapons by GRU?

Maybe in a round about way, but I suspect its the vacuum in Iraq.

Iraq is one giant weapons catche. I can't believe the billions of dollars that must have been spent to buy all that stuff. It's going to take 10 years to find and dispose of it all.

Is the Bingol province near Iraq? Are the dead militants PKK for sure, or al-Quaedas in disquise?
To: aristotleman
Bingol is probably about a hundred miles to Iraq.

Is there a possibility that factions within the PKK joined forces with bin ladens men, since they know the "lay of the land" in Turkey?

If you noticed, the whole area is heating up pretty good. As far as I can tell, these organizations are each taking advantage of the chaos created by the other, but without actually coordinating. Just my guess. If I am right, then it's only a matter of time until they start coordinating.

"Divide and Conquer" is due I think. Violence against them seems to spawn more of them and more alliances. Time for payoffs, instigation of intrigue amongst rival groups, and rewards to the ones who betray them. They are not that intelligent, they'll eventually kill each other off.
