A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos) - 11.20.03
Yahoo.com | 11-20-03 | ohioWfan

Posted on 11/20/2003 12:54:41 PM PST by ohioWfan

The President had a busy day in London today, with a visit with Laura to Westminster Abbey, and a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior, a meeting at 10 Downing Street with Tony and Cherie Blair, a joint press conference with the two strongest leaders in the world, and a visit to a London school for a Shakespearian production by the children for the First Ladies, and a tour of the Faberge items at the Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace.

There are more than a hundred photos out there today, and even with culling a bit, I will be posting many!

Enjoy your (massive) Daily Dose of Dubya!!

First of all, thanks for SO many photos! I gawked at them, and saved way too many of them!

Second, about your weather comment. My business takes me outside, and I for one, am glad that today's high is supposed to be 70. I don't like cold, thought I'd be living in FL by now, and for this final (and I repeat, final) year for me doing this business, I am extremely thankful that I'm not wearing heavy jacket and gloves again this week. Last week was enough of a reminder of what is to come.

For those who love Winter, cold and snow, God bless. But me? I'm headed further South, for the warmth and the joy of using a pool for most of the year and being able to grow my tropicals (again) that I had when I lived in Hawaii.

I love it. I tend to get discouraged by all the negative attacks on President Bush by the left, but last night I was encouraged in the reminder that the great cultural divide we saw in the 2000 election, while having gotten deeper over the past three years, has shown in starker contrast the differences between the supporters of the President, and those who hate him for the sake of hate. We have optimism, good humor, a realization that evil exists, moral absolutes, and a recognition that there are some things in this world worth fighting for, like liberty. The other side holds none of these characteristics. I think we have history, and if I may be so bold to say, God, on our side. There is no reason to despair.

Could you add anything to the Iraqi people seeing the US as liberators? Any good stories from your son over there and their dealings with Iraqis? Thanks for posting the great pics.

Are you serious about Tommy Franks being a Demonrat? Where'd you hear that? No, Tommy, no. Sounds like Tommy's had a turnaround.

The greatest damning of those lousy protesters is them bringing down the 'bronze statu' of President Bush like he is worse than Saddam Hussein. That just sums those people up. That's the way they see it.

I didn't say they were 'flakos.' I just don't need intercessors to know to pray for the President.

If it gets others to pray for him, who wouldn't otherwise, it's a good thing, but I am now, and will always be skeptical of someone's telling me that he hears God's voice better than others do.

It's not biblical, and in this case, tends to make people afraid, which is definitely not biblical.

We're not going to agree on this, Mary. These people obviously mean a lot to you, and I'm not going to disparage that.

I think it would be best to stay on topics on which we agree........like that we have a great and Godly President, and we need to be in prayer for him.

Yeah......they're definitely 'gawkers' aren't they? :o)

And about this weather.........YIKES, it's 70 out there now, and absolutely GORGEOUS!

I love the cold, and like winter to be winter, but for me that starts in December. I'll take all the sunny warm stuff I can get in November!

Eric is bothered by how little contact he has with Iraqis, but all that he's had has been good. (It's been even more limited since the security situation worsened).

One example....a merchant's truck had a flat tire, so Eric and some other guys fixed it for him, and he was so thankful that he gave them all one of his 'wares'..........a pillow!

So thanks to this wonderful Iraqi man, my son has something soft to lay his head down on at night!

God has always warned his people throughout the ages, using prophets and intercessors. What is unbiblical about that, OWF? This isn't meant to scare but to warn so we can war with the spiritual forces behind it. I don't see anything unbiblical about that.

Wolfstar, your suggestion about a compendium of the President's speech inspired me, so I posted the following (as a start) on my "About" page --

Key Speeches of President Bush

President's Remarks at National Day of Prayer and Remembrance (Sept. 14, 2001)
”America is a nation full of good fortune, with so much to be grateful for. But we are not spared from suffering. In every generation, the world has produced enemies of human freedom. They have attacked America, because we are freedom's home and defender. And the commitment of our fathers is now the calling of our time.”

President Bush Addresses Nation and Joint Session of Congress on War on Terror (Sept. 20, 2001)
”Great harm has been done to us. We have suffered great loss. And in our grief and anger we have found our mission and our moment. Freedom and fear are at war. The advance of human freedom -- the great achievement of our time, and the great hope of every time -- now depends on us. Our nation -- this generation -- will lift a dark threat of violence from our people and our future. We will rally the world to this cause by our efforts, by our courage. We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail...”

President Bush Challenges UN to Enforce Its Past Resolutions on Iraq (Sept. 12, 2002)
“We must choose between a world of fear and world of progress. We cannot stand by and do nothing while dangers gather. We must stand up for our security, and for the permanent rights and the hopes of mankind. By heritage and by choice, the United States of America will make that stand. And, delegates to the United Nations, you have the power to make that stand, as well…”

President Bush Speaks at Goree Island in Senegal (July 8, 2003)
"In America, enslaved Africans learned the story of the exodus from Egypt and set their own hearts on a promised land of freedom. Enslaved Africans discovered a suffering Savior and found he was more like themselves than their masters. Enslaved Africans heard the ringing promises of the Declaration of Independence and asked the self-evident question, then why not me?..."

President Bush’s Speech to the National Endowment for Democracy (Nov. 6, 2003)
”The progress of liberty is a powerful trend. Yet, we also know that liberty, if not defended, can be lost. The success of freedom is not determined by some dialectic of history. By definition, the success of freedom rests upon the choices and the courage of free peoples, and upon their willingness to sacrifice…”

President Bush Discusses Iraq Policy at Whitehall Palace in London (Nov. 19, 2003)
”The deepest beliefs of our nations set the direction of our foreign policy. We value our own civil rights, so we stand for the human rights of others. We affirm the God-given dignity of every person, so we are moved to action by poverty and oppression and famine and disease. The United States and Great Britain share a mission in the world beyond the balance of power or the simple pursuit of interest. We seek the advance of freedom and the peace that freedom brings…”

Mary, the end result of dire warnings that President Bush is in imminent danger because someone prophesies it is FEAR, and that is not biblical.

It is impossible to verify those warnings, and there is no way to know if the person(s) making the claim are doing it because it's valid, or because they're getting publicity or money out of it.

I don't believe in popular prophets. Period. There are too many charlatans out there for me to trust what any 'prophet' on the Internet is claiming is from God. I rely on God's word alone, and the Holy Spirit's guidance to see if what others say lines up with what is in the word.

I'm sorry, but we will have to agree to disagree on this, and I'd rather not continue this discussion. Please?

To all......

I just found this at the WH website from yesterday. It's near and dear to my heart, choir director that I am......it's the President greeting the children in the choir at Westminster Abbey. :o)

The one he's shaking hands with looks a bit like Harry Potter!

Some of the key passages from President Bush's speeches cannot be repeated often enough, so I thank you for posting this and pinging me. Besides, the passages that you may select for posting may or may not be different from the ones I might select. I just think it's important for us to remember. Certainly the media and academia will not remind us like the do with Kennedy's really quite shallow "ask not," and "landing a man on the moon by the end of this decade," and "ich bein ien Berliner," (or however it's spelled).

Very true. Feel free to copy what I've posted to use in your compendium of Bush speeches. I'll be adding others to my profile page here on FR. Going through them is a good exercise and a good reminder of the goodness and greatness of this President.
