I give about $10/month, but I read the small print before forking over my portion. Let's hope other people do likewise. It would be the antithesis of charity to give money to a bunch of socialists.

I was the CFC point guy for my office when I was a fed....of course my office had 5 people in it, and we were competing with other offices in the agency that had 50+ so we never did real well (then again, there was never a whole lot of pressue anyway because of it).
I found some good conservative-oriented causes to donate to (Gun Owners Legal Defense Fund), and some nice, generally history-oriented causes I found worthy (preservation of war memorials and battlefields for instance). One of my buddy's favorite causes to donate to was the "Helper Monkey Fund" or some such thing, which provided monkey butlers for invalids.

When I get my form, I want to look up that 'Helper Monkey Fund.' Unless, of course, there's a law against Federally Funded monkey business...

In a similiar fashion my wife and I refuse to contibute to the United Way because of the extreme. Leftist, whackjob organizations it supports. Makes us no friends at work but we refuse to give money to organizations that are trying to destroy our country.

Fight the good fight. THere is an organization known as the Monkey Helpers Fund (Re post #2) that does invaluable work. Give to them instead.

My wife and I have stopped contributing to the United Way because they refuse to support the Boy Scouts. Now we givve directly to them and are proud to do so!

My understanding is that the United Way manages the CFC- or at very least distributes the funds. Dollars given to the CFC are dollars given to the United Way.
Some months ago, there was a thread about the way the UW distributes monies to charities. Namely, they decide ahead of time how much each charity is entitled to. Once that threshold is reached any extra money is distributed to other charities that fell below their quota. Therefore, any you money give to the UW/CFC system may not get to the charity you intended.
Would be nice to find that thread.

I think that's the one on the CFC form...
