Can you imagine the decision to shoot down and incoming plane?

One would think .. especially after 9/11 that pilots would know better then to fly near the WH

I wonder what criteria there is for the decision to shoot an incoming plane down.

3 miles radius, a 1 mile radius?

If i was a pilot i would know the restricted area and avoid it like my life depended on it, which it may.

Can you imagine a pilot's reaction to looking in the rear view mirror and seeing a couple of F-16s back there? That plane would be due for a major clean-up and airing out!
