Probably not. They do constantly have SS agents on the roof with shoulder lauched Surface to Air Missiles but that would probably be too little too late. Navy ships have a system to destroy incoming missiles (Aegis ?) I 'spect the White House might have a similar system.
Uhh, you can't hide an Aegis Radar. There would be a gigantic ugly box with the 4 flat panels of the radar on top of the White House or some nearby building.
Also, you can't have the radar turned on in an area like that. Simply being in front of the beam can kill a person, much less the effect on electrical and electronic equipment in a multiblock area around the WH.
There are plenty of Air Defense systems between the Stinger and Aegis and I suspect the WH may have some small battlefield-type missles beyond shoulder-fired ones.

I suppose it depends on the size of the suitcase bomb therein.
But to some degree, any kind of attack would be viewed as intolerable on that site.
. . . for a variety of reasons and not all of them about image.

Yea, I've tried some tricks. Darn neighborhood strays dump in my pineapple garden. But now, instead of keeping my dog on leash, I set her loose and she chases them pretty far off, and comes right back :o) (without the cats, I might add)

What could a plane do the World Trade Center? Thanks. You just proved two of my points
- that the sheeple don't understand the concept of kinetic energy, and
- you hate private flying so much that you are forced to distort the facts in a feeble attempt to make your point.
A Cessna weighing 1500#, traveling at 120MPH, and carrying 40 gal of fuel did not, and could not possibly destroy the World Trade Center. But you want to ban private flying anyway, apparently.
If you're honest, you might ask yourself why you hate freedom so much.

How many people on the ground have been killed by aircraft crashing into them in the last...say...ten years?
How many people on the ground have been killed by automobiles crashing into them?
But you want to ban private flying because it's "unsafe". Why is that?

If you're honest, you might ask yourself why you hate freedom so much. And you might ask yourself how a Secret Service agent hearing about an unauthorized aircraft detected on radar will know whether it's a Cessna (which of course could be loaded with explosive or WMD) or a 757/767.
Your weak agenda isn't helping much in this case.

Again, non sequitor, red herring, and strawman all in one.
You can feel free to suggest that I want to ban private flying, or that the administration wants to do so.
You saying it doesn't make it so.

But an on-the-ball pilot should catch it and tell ATC that they're being idiotsTrue, but when your under positive ATC control, you ASSume that they know what they are doing. A false assumption in many cases, I'll admit. Also, it is hard to get in a word edgewise in busy areas and at busy times.
Many times when you are with approach, they will fail to turn you over to the tower until you are well within the Class D. Then the tower chews you out for not contacting them.
If you're adroit, or have a co-pilot, you can pop over to the tower freq. and check in. But you know, at that point in a flight, you are really busy flying the aircraft and looking for traffic.
Rule Number One: Fly the Aircraft.

My dogs loves our cat, they protect her, but I just can't keep the Shepherd/Sharpei mix out of the litter pan. Yuk. Speaking of chase stories, I was laughing so hard at my other dog, a Collie/St. Bernard mix that I was crying last week. He is so used to being in the fenced portion of our yard that when hubby had him out in the back yard last week and the neighbor dog came into the yard, he ran back inside the gate to bark at the neighbor dog through the fence. Silly mutt...

Hey, it's a big country. Fly someplace else.Did it ever occur to you that people have a right to travel in this country, and that some of them might want to travel to DC?
Please fill in the following blank with something you like to do (golf, hunting, boating, skiing, hiking):
Hey, it's a big country. ____________ someplace else.

Which is more intolerable, a small aircraft - even one carrying 100# of explosives - crashing into the White House, or the end of the freedom to travel in America?
