The old tesitment is what the Jews, Christians and Muslims all share, it's the root of all the religions and thus the same God. Are you sure that Muslims recognize as holy the first five books of the Bible which contains the law given to Israel? That would be a real shock as the focus of Islam all over the world seems to be the destruction of Israel.

Many Christian clergy are mixed up themselves. Probably, but many are right in the middle of life with both feet and Christian, Islamic, Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, and other clerics handle very similar problems with very similar methods and can talk to each other as fellow professionals. They know, it usually happens when one has had a parish or ministry for some years, less often does it happen when one is handed a diploma at the age of 20-something and little practical responsibility yet for others' psychic spiritual health.

Pick any valid religion and follow it sincerely to its destination for all the proof you need. Bingo! Any sincere rational pursuit of *truth* will lead to that one question, which is based on faith, no matter which way you answer it. Nothing will satisfy but faith in the One true God.

Um... is that supposed to mean they believe they worship the same God? I don't understand why you said that.

Many Christian clergy are mixed up themselves. Like the ones that think gay mariage is okay? Yeah, I would say there are some "Christian" loons.

I think he knows the difference, but what do you expect him to say.
"Oh gee, we respect your worship of the Moon god and following that crazy Mohammad person"
To THEM in Islam, that is their supposed ONE God. Though they worship a pagan god and not GOD, we gain nothing in public by turning this into a Holy War.
We are effecting a change in parts versus WW3.
We don't need to start or defend a WW3 if this need not be.
We know what is up as does President Bush.
Give Bush some credit for being discreet.

Thank you for your reply and for sharing your personal testimony! Actually, I consider Baptists to be the least legalistic of all denominations. Of course, each Baptist church has its own personality (the result of many, many splits) - and no doubt many of them are "up tight" about a thing or two.
But in the Baptist churches with which I have been associated (San Antonio) - strict, legalistic conformance only applied to the Great Commandment (roughly, love God absolutely and your fellow man unconditionally) --- everything else was just details. We didn't sweat them (Philippians 4:6-7). It was an altogether loving exploration in the Word.

First of all, I've never seen a word in the English language that is spelled "bwaaaaaaaah" or any word even close. Second, I'm not telling you anything about me. I'm simply making a statement. There is one God and I promise you even the Jews will tell you the Muslim "God" is the same as their "God", the God of Abraham, Isaac and Ismael. Or have you never heard that?

i couldnt read this entire thread, so this may have already been said, if so, i apologise.
seems to me , the president could have cleared it all up by adding the qualifier;
'...in the eyes of the state. '

I've never seen a word in the English language that is spelled "bwaaaaaaaah" or any word even close. This word or exclamation is being used quite often in English. The problem is that it has many spelling variants which cannot be acomodated by a dictionary. Similar with "aaargh" for example.
Enter "bwahahaha" or "aaargh" in google search and you will find thousands of returns.

I used to believe that Muslims and Christians worship the same God. I believed that their understanding of Him was lacking and that they were just horribly mistaken about 90% of it. I don't believe that anymore. I think Allah is part vestiges of the old moon god and partly an imitation of God.

"Did you skip your catechism classes?"
no, I was an altar boy, choir boy and went to Catholic schools until I was 17 years old.
Catechism's are left to the individual diocese's to publish and subject to many of the whims of American liberal Bishops.
The Nicene creed is considered infallible doctrine.
I'll make my stand on the Nicene Creed.
P.S. Back in the sixties when I was in Catholic school that was not in the Catechism that I read.

"Interesting how a few words out of the president's mouth can cause so must interesting discussion, isn't it?" They are not just a few words out of his mouth, they reflect policy that effects all Americans.

Or even better, has imprinted on the town drunk instead of his father. Insists on calling him dad, denies that the other guy is his real father.

You know little about the Catholic Church.
