This may have been posted but Neal Boortz has a good way of clearing things up. He has notes worth reading every day @ Boortz.com
President Bush will be facing demonstrators in England today. No big news. American presidents face demonstrations everywhere they go .. .even in this country.
I think, though, I have a bit of a handle on why so many Europeans literally hate George Bush. I can explain it with this scenario:
You're walking down the street when you notice a house on fire. The flames are just beginning to lick at some windows. From inside that house you hear screams. A mother is pleading for someone to come help her look for her babies.
You're frozen with fear out there on that sidewalk. You know there are children in that house, and you know the mother is in there trying to save them. You know they may all die, but you can't move out of your tracks on that sidewalk. You're afraid. After all, what if you get burned trying to save those people? What if you die? Maybe the flames will die out on their own? You're perfectly willing to stand in the yard with a garden hose trying to contain the flames .. but actually going in there? No way!
While you're standing there doing nothing, here comes this swaggering American in a cowboy hat. A damned Texan. The Texan sees the fire, hears the screams for help, throws down his hat and runs into the house. Minutes later he emerges with the woman and her children. They're safe.
What about you? You feel like a coward. That Texan has made you feel small .. he took your manhood. He showed you for the coward that you are in front of all of those people who were watching the spectacle. Those people know that they were more like you than like the Texan; after all, they stood by you in doing nothing. God, you hate him so. You hate him because he displayed the courage you only wish you had. Oh, you're glad he rescued that woman and her children; but why couldn't it have been you?
Suck it up, Europe. It's not like this is the first time Americans have had to do the job you should have done in the first place, and it probably won't be the last.

You heard the stories of how Sadaam fed people through shredders feet first? Well the Shah of Iran- OUR GUY- dipped people slowly into acid baths feet first! Oh- we are so spotless are we?

It is precisely BECAUSE in the past our country has supported and tolerated despots that we should make ammends and do what we can to clean it up. It's called "Personal Responsibility".
The Soviets are gone. We do not have to tolerate the Saddams of the world to "maintain the balance". We never should have gotten into placating monsters in the first place, and President Bush is out to fix that!
No. Our hands are NOT clean and people have suffered as a result.
So should we hide like a bunch of Frenchmen? Should we wail " We're not worthy! " , and wring our hands?
Or should we act like Americans, resolve to do the right thing from now on and make it right?

I have never written one single word on this board that someone hasn't attacked with a vengeance. I'll tell you what, keep it to yourself. Learn some discipline.

One Hundred and Twenty Thousand French troops died in the just six weeks of resistence to the Germans in WWII. Are they "Cowards"? Imagine that casualty level of the USA in six weeks? Would we have lasted? But then again France had lost a million plus men just 20 years before in WWI. And in the mid nineties still had seats on their "Metro" reserved for those without limbs from the first WORLD WAR since there were so many. I am just sick of this ignorant anti French nonsense in this country.

And we knew the hell they were living in the 80's when he was our guy. Look at this graph
Then this PDF file from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.
Follow the money and you will see whose side Hussein was on during the 1980's.

Then for the next 10 years the cowboy forces everyone back in texas to pay to "rebuild" the house......................

The second link you will need adobe acrobat. If you dont have it take my word for it. It breaks down the weapons sales to Iraq by each country and by year.
The number one seller to Iraq was the Soviet Union, providing about 1-2 billion per year. Second was france, providing 300-700 million per year. China provided about a billion per year (but only during the 1980s). And Poland did about 100 million per year. The United States? Provided about ten million per year.

You said he was "our guy". Prove it. How come compared to other countries, the U.S. left Hussein's dick swingin in the wind when it came to military hardware? (think Cold War)
As far as it being different from other countries in the region? Ill take a shot out of the dark and say we probably sold in excess 100 billion in the last 20 years to Saudi Arabia, Yemen etc..
