I hate to put a damper on all of this enthusiasm for Herman Cain. It would be terriffic if he actually won. But Congressman Johnny Isakson is sitting atop $3 million cash-on-hand, six times more than Cain and Collins combined. And while rural conservative Democratic voters cross over to Republicans in the general election, they don't vote in G.O.P. primaries. Republican primaries are decided in the so-called doughnut counties, the ring of affluent suburbs circling Atlanta, and television is the way to reach them. In addition, I'd be surprised if Majette actually ran.
