They pay a tax on TV ownership?? Yep, I beleive it is a 30 pound "fee"(i.e. tax) on every TV in their household and that money goes straight to the BBC.

The current cost of the TV license in Britain is £116 per household, not £30. Those who don't pay it and get caught using a TV, face prosecution and a fine of £1,000. Anyone who can't afford to pay the fine gets prison time. I received a license fee demand from the Bolshevik Broadcasting Corporation this morning. Rather than pay it, I am just going to give away my TV, (its an old portable one). I refuse to pay for the BBC leftists anymore, especially given the lousy anti-coalition BBC coverage of the Iraq war.

Absolutely. Not only are their TV's taxed, they also have roving vans with "rotating roof racks" searching out any resident that may have a TV and not paid tax on it. Same folks that decry commetcials on American TV. Our ,TV is commercial-free!
