That is what TV crews do for any demonstration they are sympathetic to. They get just the right shot that shows a lot of people but implies ten times more are to the sides or behind the camera. They're not.

Q: What if they scheduled an anti-war protest and nobody showed up?
They would scream censorship and oppression.

The media must be really disapointed.

I think this should be FrontPage news, since all the talk of the protests, without mentioning the low turnout are frontpage news and leading news on networks.
To: oyez
The protesting crowds were big..if looked at through a microscope or a liberal's eyes.

Gee, AOL commie news last hour was all lit up about protests. As Rush used to say, "How can this be?" Anybody else figuring out that the media and their Democrat friends are our mortal enemies, just like the terrorists.

The following are comments from the BBC website:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/talking_point/3276755.stm No I do not. Bush is the Maggie Thatcher of America, a leader in every respect who will never suffer fools or terrorists. Let us all support he who supports us and our civil liberties.
Trevor Northan, Warwick, England
I can only quote my father, a veteran serviceman, who always replied to those who were anti-military with the same sentiment. "I don't agree with your point of view, but I am ready to fight to the death to defend your right to express it." If we prevent these protests then all the servicemen who have died over the years have done so for nothing.

I think we should be proud of the special relationship with America, they have stood shoulder to shoulder with us at our time of need and we should do the same now, at a time when the US is under attack from terrorists across the globe.
Gareth Curtis, Manchester, UK
If Bush decided to make his Sate visit a day after 9'11 how many would have protested? Why do people forget easily? Welcome to the UK Mr President.
Raymond, Sunderland, UK
I understand that the majority of people in the UK support the visit yet the emphasis of news coverage seems to be on protesters and not a welcoming crowd. Is this biased news coverage? Is it that the protesters are far more vocal? Or is it that hardly anyone can be bothered to go and wave? Either way - power to the pretzels.

About 200??
Why, the article the other day predicted "tens of thousands".
Somebody needs to re-calibrate their calculator...

Well, OK, 200 is a little down from the 100,000 they were anticipatingBy Louis Farakan standards, that 200 easily translates into over 1,000,000.

The current cost of the TV license in Britain is £116 per household, not £30. Those who don't pay it and get caught using a TV, face prosecution and a fine of £1,000. Anyone who can't afford to pay the fine gets prison time. I received a license fee demand from the Bolshevik Broadcasting Corporation this morning. Rather than pay it, I am just going to give away my TV, (its an old portable one). I refuse to pay for the BBC leftists anymore, especially given the lousy anti-coalition BBC coverage of the Iraq war.
To: Dane
They pay a tax on TV ownership?? Yep, I beleive it is a 30 pound "fee"(i.e. tax) on every TV in their household and that money goes straight to the BBC.
Actually, it's up to 116 GBP per year per household, which is about $197

You do have a choice rather than the monopoly of the BBC in Britain for news. I haven't watched a CBS/ABC/NBC news broadcast for years. You have access to the internet for news, don't let the BBC/Labourites in Britain tax that.

More people than this bash Bush right here on FR on a daily basis! LOL, But I'm sure the media will play it up ( the handful of British protesters) like crazy.

the 4 gov't owned BBC channelsThe BBC is not government owned. It's an independent Corporation operating under Royal Charter. The only mechanism the government has to influence the BBC directly is through its decision to renew or not the legislation which controls the licence fee (coming up for renewal soon) and through the appointment of the Chairman of governors.

Absolutely. Not only are their TV's taxed, they also have roving vans with "rotating roof racks" searching out any resident that may have a TV and not paid tax on it. Same folks that decry commetcials on American TV. Our ,TV is commercial-free!
