The state is bankrupt. It has to cut spending. The governor's people don't have the detailed knowledge and can't take the heat for media screaming without it. So they ignore the only source, as you have now tacitly admitted.
Don't feed me that crap about Party unity when Arnold's very presence represents the converse, the highjacking of the recall when they couldn't kill it. Worse, we wouldn't have needed a recall had the PARTY shown that unity you now flout as if you knew what it meant. Two thirds of REPUBLICANS voted agains Mr. Riordan, and what did that minority do when Simon was ELECTED as the REPUBLICAN nominee? They held their money, used the Party apparatus to screw the REPUBLICAN candidate, and sat out the election or even voted for Davis.
Now that they have to act fast and can't find the money in time, they're trying to cover over the problem with debt service because they won't take the heat for cutting budgets, just as predicted. No wonder McClintock won't play; he's trying to get them to confront reality for the good of CALIFORNIA (which is what this is about, BTW). If you don't like accountability, tough. You're going to get a load of it over the coming years.
