Mr. Rumsfeld met with South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun and told him that the United States would like Seoul to send "self-sufficient" troops to Iraq that do not need the protection of U.S. combat forces or help with supplies, said a senior defense official at the meeting.
Send some ROK MARINES!
Oooorah!

U.S. forces must be moved south so that they may respond with an effective counter attack into the north. I never really understood this tripwire business.

The ROK Marines scare the Roh administration too much. He'll only turn them loose once the communists are closing on the Presidential offices.
Semper Fi!

If you ask me, the biggest impact out of SECDEF's visit to Korea, was his calling NK evil again, in very stark terms. He's a smart guy; and obviously a guy with enough fortitude to speak common sense.
Nevertheless, I think that will have the most lasting impact on the political spectrum on the Korean peninsula.
Great to see our politicians be real; as our forces will be facing real bullets as they advance downrange.
