This is bad. This is how tyranny gets started. Perhaps J-Rob or some other enterprising code warrior can start an internet underground. A place where information can be free of the evil United Nations.

Sure, let the U.N. control the internet. In order for it to be 'fair' we'll all have to use 2400 baud modems. And of course hate speech will be banned. Hate speech being anything not far left and in support of the U.N. of course. And btw, you rich nations. You'll have to pony up and buy 3 billion computers for the third world. Through a U.N. agency of course...

If I have the choice between these guys and Micro$oft, we may be better off with these guys.

You got it. We need to make the US independent of the rest of the internet. We need a network they are no longer part of. They cannot be trusted.

Right, buddy....in China, Brazil, India, Russia and SA, there would be NO internet without US companies LIKE Microsoft.....MS may have its problems, but I don't think they rise the the level of the tyrants.

Sure. Within minutes a couple of 14 year old hackers in the U.S. will disable every computer at the UN.
To: .cnI redruM
Hmmmm...governments that fear the unfettered flow of information (okay Brazil is a stretch). How interesting.

The only thing these low-lifes can do is talk anyway..they have no way to enforce their agenda..unless democrats keep getting elected to high public offices of the USA..

Anytime you see the word "stakeholder", know that a leftist tyrant is trying to pull a fast one.
To: Politically Correct
'Stakeholder' my ---! The UN contributed NOTHING to the development and deployment of the internet. They have no legitimate claim. They are thieves and felons.

I have written a novel I'm about to try and get published with just such a theme. This aricle is the icing on the cake, it will go right into the book.
To: .cnI redruM
Let's see........we built the internet and give them access, now they want to take control? This goes along with the wet dream the UN has about collecting taxes. We should tell them to go to h***.
To: .cnI redruM
Nitin Desai, special adviser to U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, said the core purpose of the summit is to establish a common vision for the information society, to utilize new technologies to overcome poverty and to find ways to make Internet access affordable to all. Note to Kofi: You're just a communist moron. Therefore, STFU

We built it, it's ours, if you don't want to use it fine.
Otherwise go to hell.

Since Al Gore invented it, and he lives in the United States, then he should apply for the copyright so we can keep it, right?
