This could be a critical moment in the history of marriage in the US. If it is ruled that gays can marry, this will turn into a major campaign issue for 04.

If those pervert hedonists get their way, we should all march on our local city hall and demand that we can "marry" sheep.

I heard it had been 4-3 against and one of the three was a lesbian who believed only the legislature could do this.
She was probably worked over the last several months.

So true. I will be interesting to watch Dean and company try to thread the needle on this one. This is a day they've been dreading.
Reporter:"Gov Dean, would you support a pro-marriage amendment to the US Constitution to negate this decision?"
Dean: "Um, um, I am a metrosexual. . .um, um, I support civil unions. . .um, um, lets repeal the Bush tax cut . . no comment."

Should I ask, how?

Do you think that any marriage that includes Michael Jackson will be considered gay?

The trouble with this is that the only way this could be enjoined is through federal court and the Federal Goverment has no standing based on the enumerated powers reserved to states.

This should be reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal interesting, because MA's a unique blend of Crunchy left + Irish Catholic left + NIMBY/Limousine Liberal left.

Oh, the irony...
"Marriage" is not marriage if it is not recognized by God.

Depends on whether the spouse gets the 'happy glove' treatment. :)

That case hasn't reached the appellate level, yet. It was just recently dismissed in the lower court.

Why do I have the feeling they're going to make it legal? They're far far lefties there.

I don't know. Being gay, in my opinion is a lifestyle and nothing more. I don't condone gay marriage, I don't condemn it to a great severity. Everyone is up in arms where I am right now. Gay people are "flying colors" anti-gay people are making their opinons well known. We don't have a "straight pride day", but now I'm thinking that we should. And another thing is, I saw a slogan the other day, that said that we should not tolerage gayness, but accept it. What if someone doesn't want to, but has the decency enough not to make a ruckus? That should be ok too. No one HAS to accept ANYTHING.
I'm probably going to get flammed big time for this. I'm just frustrated with all the hulabalo, that all. I can't go anywhere without someone shoving their opinion in my face. ( That's Not directed at any Freepers)

Well maybe the Supremes have the right to interpert the Constitution, but I believe that it is the dictionary itself that interperts the meaning of the words.
