[history]
U.S. steelmakers reluctantly agreed to end tariffs on steel imports earlier than scheduled, after the White House urged the companies to seek middle ground and help it avert a threatened trade war.
But the offer likely will face a tough audience in the European Union. European trade officials have shown little interest in compromising on the levies, which the World Trade Organization last week ruled were illegal. U.S. steel consumers, including automotive-parts makers, also aren't likely to be impressed by the compromise proposal.

I just wish that the people who like import taxes so much would just like them for themselves and not make me pay them too.
Unfortunately, the tax and spenders who like Gephardt and Buchanan never want to tax themselves, they just want to redistribute my wealth.

Please put me on your ping list, thank you. OK. How do I create one of those though? Right now I just type names from memory.

I know only of how I do it, but I keep a notepad file on my desktop that lists the names of those I want to ping to particular topics. I just past their names, separated by commas, into the address box when making a reply I want to ping. And, of course, the notepad file can be added to or deleted from at will.

Cool. Thanks. I didn't know if there was a place we could keep a list at FR.
