Jindal lost. OK, but Blanco won. That means LA lost. Give her about a year in office and the voters of LA will be screaming to replace her fellow Democrat Breaux with a Republican Senator to help "balance" their state out.

an incumbent president has never lost an election bid if he did not face significant opposition in the primaries.

Did Bush Sr. face significant opposition in the primaries? From whom?

Pat Buchanan won a state and was close at a few others being blown away after getting pounded in the media for being an anti-semite. Pat hit Bush pretty hard on his tax increases and his support of free trade.

War on Terror. Economy. Issues vital to his base. No primary opposition. Weak Democratic Party opposition. Record-setting fundraising for us, dismal fundraising for Dems. Bush is enacting his plan. Dems can't even name a plan of their own.

It's a thing of beauty!

It appears to be just that.

A chart from the CS Monitor which complements this article nicely:

I still get a chuckle out of the occasional poster who comes onto the forum loudly proclaiming that Dubya is losing his base. He's in better shape now than when he took office.

play politics with the livelihood of the American people

An American lives in Iraq by encouraging more murders with talk of 'bugging out' if elected.

Not only that Rush Limbaugh endorsed Pat.

I don't recall Rush actually endorsing Buchanan. Rush had his differences with both Bush Sr. and Pat.

Excellent point about the shift in Electoral votes. I hadn't considered the ramifications.

Everything RATs do is for their own furtherment, like Stalinists. But have hope. The OLD FARTS in the Senate are dying. You can see it in the performance of Ted Kennedy. As long as the Clintons and Kennedy are around, the rest of the RAT party MUST follow suit. To what? 33% of the electorate? That's their base. Meanwhile 45-50% are running away from them. Kennedy is against anything that moves America FORWARD. Maybe the Clintons will "OFF" him after the next election. Who Knows? A watery burial would be nice, maybe off a pier?
