Bush Country just received a rather disturbing email from one of our regular site visitors, Reverend Austin Miles. In it, Rev Miles discloses that Michael Newdow (the atheist behind the Pledge of Allegiance lawsuit) is now a member of the State Bar of California and is apparently using that authority as an officer of the court to not only further his atheistic agenda but to harass Christians as well. Bush Country ask that you forward this information to major media outlets and those on your email list, so they can report on what is going on. Here are the emails: Dear Jim, You will be interested in this letter I wrote to Law.com regarding a story they wrote. Since then I have contacted the California State Bar and they seem supportive of my filing a petition to have Newdow disbarred. I will notify you when I do with a copy of my complaint. And then, perhaps it will be time for me to do a story on this. It will be timely since Newdow's Supreme Court hearing comes up in February. It is interesting that Newdow began harassing me within a week after the news of my stroke got out. He felt that since I was totally disabled at the time, he could file a suit against me, go to court and have me lose by default...in not being there. Will keep you posted... rev. Austin Miles Reverend Austin Miles Letter to Law.com Michael Newdow has made a mockery of the legal system. He has managed to become a member of the State Bar of California. He has not joined a legal firm, nor has he opened a law office for the purpose of legitimately practicing law. He has instead used that authority as an 'officer of the court' to further his own atheistic agenda and to harass Christians, which is clearly a mis-use of the law. With the authority of the State Bar of California whom he represents, he has filed dozens of frivolous and malicious lawsuits in an attempt to bring attention to himself. The lawsuits themselves are fraudulent. In the Pledge case he committed perjury by swearing to the court that the statements in his complaint were true when he had full knowledge that they were not. He used a child he fathered as the hook to make his case (his words on CNN) and deceive the courts into believing that he was doing this as a concerned father in the interest of his daughter. What he did not disclose was that he was never married to the child's mother and has never lived with them. The mother has the sole legal rights to make decisions for her daughter. Newdow, a non custodial parent does not. Compounding the fraud, Newdow's daughter and her mother are Christians, who are active in an evangelical church and who have absolutely no problem with the Pledge of Allegiance. To make Newdow's cases even more absurd is the statement he made before Superior Court Judge James Mize that his daughter was conceived by rape (?)...that Sandra Banning, the child's mother forcibly raped him." (Legal .com 11/10/03) Newdow is now filing his mass lawsuits against not only the high profile Christians, but has now begun to harass the common minister in order to obviously stop churches from conducting services. I am one such minister that he is now trying to sue. Newdow has the audacity to name himself on his complaints as, Reverend Dr. Michael Newdow, which is clearly to mock Christianity and mock the millions of citizens for whom Christianity is an important part of their culture and beliefs. It is not for any law officer to insult the people. He is also mocking the legal system by carrying a card showing him as a member of the California State Bar...a system he obviously has contempt for; He has publicly called judges, "...frauds" and "charlatans." (UPI--10/30/03) The State Bar should think twice before allowing their endorsement of this man to continue. Michael Newdow should be considered an embarrassment to the legal profession and should be disbarred before he causes damage which could result in a precedent-making lawsuit against the California State Bar itself for giving him the authority and power to act as an officer of the court. Newdow's actions has now made The State Bar liable. He is causing expensive problems to people and clogging the court system with his bogus cases. On Saturday, November 8th, one of Newdow's representatives he hired to serve papers, banged on the door of one of my wife's older relatives, awakening him, disturbing his nap, and Newdow's rep tried to push his way in the door demanding to know where I could be located. The elderly man is 86, frail, and lives alone. To him this had the appearance of a home invasion. He would have been within his rights to pick up his shotgun and kill the intruder. This kind of harassment, fueled and authorized by the State Bar of California will indeed come back upon the Bar. I think they had better think over this situation and Newdow's membership very carefully. Rev. Austin Miles Northern California |
FRegards,
Just curious, where are his finances coming from?
It seems the author, though well-meaning, and probably correct on most points, is a little confused on the "how-tos" of practicing law in California.
He is most definitely demented in his thinking. Take a few seconds to hear him talk and you'll realize how creepy he really is.
Did he join the lawyer's bar so he could also sue himself for malpractice and collect outrageous sums from his insurance company?
Newdow's actions has now made The State Bar liable.
fueled and authorized by the State Bar of California
This writer needs to consult a competent lawyer about how state bar licensing works and what a law license means before he further embarrasses himself with statements like this. His exhibition of ignorance pretty much guts his credibility.
If you want on the new list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...
