I have no problem with life being common, but the scenerios for the evolution of language seem improbable. This is something that will seem obvious, one way or the other, after the aquisition of data.

I have no problem with life being common, but the scenerios for the evolution of language seem improbable.

The only one that really grabs me is Calvin's throwing theory.

IE our ancestors were selected by differential success in throwing things to get food, and the excess neurons involved were co-opted for language, music, and other things requiring fine control and sequencing.
